Lewis Hamilton Equals Ayrton Senna’s World Record; Becomes First F1 Driver In History To Achieve Unique Century

Lewis Hamilton etched his name in the record books as he continued his strong display in the 2026 season for Ferrari by finishing in second spot for the second race in a row at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix after also securing a runners-up finish at the Canada GP. He finished behind Italian teenage prodigy Kimi Antonelli in both races.

Hamilton started in the third spot from qualification, but Max Verstappen’s nightmare start, which led to him retiring, allowed the seven-time world champion to climb up the ladder. The British racing legend kept the position for the entire race as Kimi led the race on every lap. Hamilton’s Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc was third for large periods, but he crashed out of the race in 68th, which meant the current and former Mercedes driver was joined by Red Bull’s Issac Hadjar on the podium.

Lewis Hamilton Emulates Ayrton Senna

Hamilton etched his name in the history books with an eighth career podium in Monaco. This is the joint-most by any driver, as he equaled legendary Brazilian driver Aryton Senna’s record, which has been in place for 33 years since his final podium at the iconic Circuit de Monaco in 1993.
