Legal trouble for Nitish Reddy as player agency sues Indian cricketer over unpaid dues of Rs 5 crore

New Delhi: Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy’s former agency has sued him over unpaid dues and breach of management contract, amounting to a sum of Rs 5 crore. Reddy has landed in legal trouble as he continues to recover from a knee injury suffered during the ongoing Test series between India and England.

The young all-rounder was released from India’s squad ahead of the ongoing 4th Test in Manchester after suffering an injury in the gym. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star is currently in India, where he is working on his recovery.

As per a report in India Today, Reddy’s former agency, Square The One, has filed a legal case against the cricketer. The player agency has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, alleging non-payment of dues and an unlawful breach of the management agreement signed between the two parties.

In the petition, Square The One player agency has sought the appointment of an independent arbitrator to oversee the case. As per the report, Square The One represented Reddy from 2021, before the relationship between the two parties broke down during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia.

Reddy made his Test debut in the series and went on to shine with his maiden hundred in the whites at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Reddy ended his contract with Square the One after reportedly signing a deal with the manager of another member of the Indian team, who was present in Australia during the series.

As per the report, the player agency, which was working with Reddy before he rose to prominence in the IPL, helped the cricketer get multiple brand endorsement deals. However, the Indian all-rounder refused to pay the contractual amount to the agency, claiming he got all the deals himself.

“Ninety percent of such disputes do not reach court and are resolved privately. But in this case, Nitish refused to pay any money and claimed he had secured the deals himself,” a source was quoted as saying by India Today.
