Food preferences in India are changing rapidly and its clear effect is visible in people’s online shopping. In the year 2025, a big change has been seen in the world of instant food and snacks. Now only Maggi or traditional noodles are not the first choice of the people, but Korean food options have made a special place in the Indian kitchen and cart. The latest report from Swiggy Instamart shows how global trends are now reaching Indian homes directly.
Tremendous surge in demand for Korean snacks
According to Instamart’s annual report, orders for Korean snacks and food products have increased almost five times in the last one year. Korean ramen and instant noodles in particular remain a favorite, with SAMYANG Carbo Italian Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen becoming the most ordered Korean SKU across the country.
Bengaluru leads among metro cities
Metro cities remained at the forefront in adopting Korean food. In Bengaluru, orders for Korean sauce and noodles increased manifold on an annual basis. In fact, thousands of packets of noodles were ordered in one hour one evening. Interestingly, the best selling Korean product in Bengaluru was not noodles but Korean flavored spicy chips. Whereas in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai, spicy ramen noodles were seen most in the carts.
Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are also not behind
Earlier it was believed that such global food trends were limited only to big cities, but now it is not so. Demand for Korean style chips and veg ramen has increased rapidly in tier-2 cities. At the same time, even in Tier-3 cities, people’s preferences were seen to be similar to that of metro cities. This clearly shows that through social media and pop culture, trends are now rapidly reaching small cities as well.
Late night hunger and instant delivery
The report also revealed that most of the orders for Korean food come in the evening and late night. People suddenly feel hungry while watching K-dramas or scrolling through social media, and quick commerce apps are fulfilling that craving instantly. Delivery in two-three minutes is now becoming a new habit of people.

Increasing desire for healthy food
Not only spicy food, people’s inclination towards healthy food has also increased. There was a huge jump in the demand for protein bars, health drinks and wellness products. In some small cities, orders related to health have increased manifold. Healthy drinks like matcha are also becoming increasingly popular in big cities.
