BCCI vs PCB Women Domestic Cricketers Pay Structure: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently increased the match fees for women domestic cricketers, which is considered a big step to promote women’s cricket. Now in senior level long format (multi-day) and ODI matches, playing eleven players will get Rs 50,000 per day, while reserve players will be given Rs 25,000 per match. In T20 matches, the playing eleven players will be paid Rs 25,000 and the players on the bench will be paid Rs 12,500.

BCCI more than doubled the match fees

This increase is more than double compared to earlier, when senior women players were getting Rs 20,000 and reserves were getting Rs 10,000 for joining the playing eleven. Parity has been maintained in junior tournaments also. Here in multi-day or ODI matches, the playing eleven will be given Rs 25,000 per day and the reserves will be given Rs 12,500. In T20, the playing eleven will get Rs 12,500 and the rest of the players will get Rs 6,250. This change will provide financial security to domestic women cricketers as well as inspiration to young players choosing sports as a career.

Bad condition of women cricketers in Pakistan

On the other hand, the situation of female domestic cricketers in Pakistan is quite worrying. The match fee there is only 20,000 Pakistani rupees (about 6,400 Indian rupees) per match, which is very low compared to the Indian fees. This amount reduces even further at the junior level. In domestic cricket, contract players get only 35,000 Pakistani rupees (about 11,200 Indian rupees) as monthly retainer, which is less than the minimum wage (11,444 rupees) fixed for laborers in Pakistan.

PCB cuts salary

Let us tell you, Pakistan had hosted the Champions Trophy earlier this year, after this tournament the condition of Pakistan Cricket Board had become bad. Because of which he had cut the salaries of the players. The match fee of Pakistan’s domestic women cricketers was earlier 25,000 Pakistani rupees. But later this year, Pakistan Cricket Board reduced it to 20,000 Pakistani rupees, which is a big blow for the women cricketers there.

This difference also shows how much difference there is between the cricket boards of the two countries. While women’s cricket is progressing rapidly in India and players are getting better facilities, women cricketers in Pakistan are facing financial challenges. Women cricketers in Pakistan not only get less match fees, but it is also not paid for months.

Less opportunities for women cricketers

In Pakistan, there are very few opportunities for women cricketers to play at the domestic level, the effect of which is also visible in international cricket. Pakistan women’s team is at 8th position in ICC rankings in ODI-T20. The biggest reason for which is that the board invests more in men’s cricket, whereas women’s cricket has been ignored. On the other hand, BCCI is paying equal match fees to male and female players. This is not limited to domestic cricket only, BCCI pays equal match fees to male and female players at the international level also.
