Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial University Protest: The student agitation started outside the Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial University in Barabanki, UP, on Monday, the police took a violent turn when the police lathi -charged the protesting ABVP students. The incident created political stir across the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath not only took cognizance of the case, but immediately took strict action against many police officers.
CM Yogi sought report, expressed displeasure
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed displeasure over the lathicharge on the students. He ordered the Ayodhya Mandalayukta to check the validity of the university degree and submit the report by evening. Along with this, IG Ayodhya range has been entrusted with the responsibility of investigating the entire lathicharge case.
CO City Harshit Chauhan was removed with immediate effect after the Chief Minister’s directive. Several policemen, including Kotwal Ramkishan Rana and Outpost Incharge, were shifted to the line. All are currently affiliated to the police line.

Students accused – Future is being played without recognition
Students associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) say that the recognition of LLB course in the university is currently suspended. Despite this, the students were misled and admitted, which is playing with their future. This is why students started a strong performance at the university gate on Monday morning.
Lathicharge and ruckus during the protest
Amid the protests, the university staff allegedly attacked the students, after which the situation worsened. The police took up the front and lathi-charged, in which many students were injured. Angry students later locked the university gate, causing hundreds of students to get stuck inside the campus.
Long list of injured students
Several students were injured in lathicharge and clash, including prominent names – Abhishek Bajpai (Province cum Minister, ABVP), Anurag Mishra (District Convenor), Abhay Shankar Pandey, Ankit Pandey, Naveen, Arpit Shukla, Ashutosh Rai, Pratyush Pandey, Ankur Awasthi, Siddharth Tiwari, Vidit Pratap Singh, Yogesh Singh, Pushpendra Bajpai (Private Organization). The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Cleaning of university administration
On this matter, OSD BS Ojha of Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial University says that “LLB is recognized by the university, only the renewal has been delayed by about one year. It is the responsibility of the university to provide a degree.” He also alleged that the protesting students had closed all the gates, causing a clash with the local parents.
