ZOMATO again increased its platform fees
Even before the festive season starts, the food delivery aggregator company ZOMATO has also given a big blow to its customers. Jomato has increased its platform fees by 20 per cent on Tuesday. The company falling under Eternal Ltd has increased the platform fees from the earlier Rs 10 to Rs 12 per order.
This increase in fees for customers has been made in all cities where zomato food delivery. This increase by Jomato has been increased after the increasing demand from rival company Swiggi to Rs 14 at selected places in view of the increasing demand last month.
Last year too, fees were increased in festive season
Jomato also increased the platform fees before the festive season last year. Last year, the company increased the fees and increased the order from Rs 6 to Rs 10. This increase was increased by the company based in Gurugram to just 3 months after it increased its platform fees from Rs 5 per order to Rs 6.
In the quarter ended on June 2025, Jomato’s original company Eternal Limited has recorded a 36% decorating decline in net profit. Whereas earlier in the quarter of March, the net profit of the company was Rs 25 crore as compared to Rs 39 crore.
Swiggy has increased fees by 600 percent in 2 years
Prior to Jomato, another veteran company Swiggi, another food delivery company, had increased its platform fees by Rs 2 last month. The company had said this increase in the festive season, citing increasing orders on behalf of customers. The company had increased its fees from Rs 12 to Rs 14 to avail the festive demand.
Food delivery companies are constantly increasing their fees. Talking about Swiggy, his fee was Rs 2 in April 2023, which was increased to Rs 6 in July 2024, then in October 2024 it increased to Rs 10. Now its fee has been Rs 14. In this way, in the last 2 years, Swiggi has increased his fees by 600 percent.
It is claimed that Swiggy orders more than 20 lakhs daily, and at the current platform fee level, it earns an additional income of crores of rupees daily.
