New Delhi: Malayalam actress Lakshmi Menon has been named in a shocking kidnapping and assault case in Kochi. According to Kochi City Police Commissioner Putta Wimaladitya, the actress has been absconding since the incident, while three other suspects have already been arrested. An investigation is underway into her alleged involvement.
The case came to light after an IT professional from Aluva, identified as Aliyar Shah Saleem, lodged a complaint with the police. He alleged that he was abducted and assaulted by a group that included the actress. The incident reportedly began with an altercation between two groups at a bar in the city. Menon, along with three companions, Mithun, Aneesh, and another woman, was said to be part of the group involved in the conflict.

Born on 19 May 1996, Lakshmi Menon is best known for her work in Tamil cinema, though she started her career in Malayalam films with Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya (2011). She rose to fame with her Tamil debut Sundara Pandian (2012), earning acclaim for her performances in a string of successful films. Over the years, she has won several honours, including a Filmfare Award South, a Tamil Nadu State Film Award, and two SIIMA Awards.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the argument escalated after the complainant and his friends attempted to flee. Their car was allegedly pursued by the accused, leading to a violent confrontation later that night. Around 11:45 PM, near the North Railway overbridge, the complainant’s vehicle was intercepted. He was forcibly dragged out, pushed into the accused’s car, and allegedly beaten on his face and body. The victim also claimed that he was threatened with dire consequences before being abandoned near the Aluva–Paravur junction.
Based on his statement, police registered a case and quickly took action. Mithun and Aneesh, both residents of Aluva and Paravur, were arrested soon after. A third suspect was also taken into custody, while Lakshmi Menon remains untraceable. Authorities have appealed to the public for information on her whereabouts.
Despite her achievements in the film industry, the actress now finds herself at the centre of a high-profile police investigation. Until further updates are released, questions continue to mount over her alleged role in the case.
