Kumar Sanu’s ‘Chumma’ Dig At Udit Narayan: Maine Woh Sab Nahi Kiya

Kumar Sanu has seemingly taken a playful dig at fellow playback singer Udit Narayan while recalling his popularity among female fans during the 1990s. In a recent interview, Sanu was asked whether he ever received kisses from his female admirers during the height of his career. His response appeared to reference the controversy that surrounded Udit last year after a video of the veteran singer kissing female fans at a concert went viral. Sanu’s cheeky remark has now gone viral.

During his conversation with The Lallantop, Kumar Sanu was asked about his female fan following during the 1990s and whether admirers ever expressed their affection by kissing him. The singer responded with a cheeky denial, saying, “Nahi mereko ko koi chumma wumma nahi khaya. Na maine kisi ko khaya. Na toh me chumma dia, na liya. Maine woh sab nahi kiya

(No, nobody came and kissed me. Nor did I kiss anyone. I neither gave nor received a kiss. I didn’t do any of that).”

The playful comment has grabbed eyeballs because of its apparent reference to the controversy involving Udit Narayan. While Sanu did not directly name Udit in the conversation, his mention of kisses make things clear.

The controversy surrounding erupted in 2025 after a video from one of his live performances went viral on social media. In the video, Udit can be seen interacting with female fans who approached him for selfies. During some of these interactions, the singer kissed fans on the cheek.

One particular moment attracted widespread attention. A female fan appeared to lean towards Udit, seemingly intending to kiss him on the cheek. Udit turned his face at the moment, resulting in their lips touching. The video quickly spread across social media, prompting criticism and questions about the nature of the interaction and the importance of consent.

Following the controversy, Udit Narayan addressed the criticism and defended his actions. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the veteran singer described such moments as expressions of affection from fans. He also maintained that he and other artists like him are decent people.
