KTM announces 4-year warranty for all road-legal bikes in Europe

New Delhi: KTM has introduced a new warranty programme for its motorcycles in Europe. Under the new plan, all road-legal KTM bikes produced from the 2025 model year onwards will come with a 4-year standard warranty. The move is aimed at giving buyers more confidence in the brand as the company works to strengthen its position in the global motorcycle market.

The new coverage, however, is only meant for European markets. Motorcycles sold in India will continue with the existing warranty policy. In India, KTM bikes already come with a standard 5-year warranty, which buyers can extend up to 10 years as an optional add-on.

KTM introduces new 4-year warranty for road bikes

The new warranty programme will apply to all road-legal KTM motorcycles manufactured from the 2025 model year onwards. This includes bikes across the company’s full range, starting from small-capacity 125cc models and going up to larger machines with engines as big as 1,350cc. Both single-cylinder and twin-cylinder motorcycles will be covered under the scheme.

Earlier, most of KTM’s road-going motorcycles were offered with a 2-year standard warranty. With the latest update, that coverage period has now been doubled to four years in European markets.

The programme will also include smaller KTM bikes built in India by Bajaj Auto, particularly the sub-400cc single-cylinder models. At the same time, larger multi-cylinder motorcycles produced in other countries will also receive the same warranty coverage.

Off-road and track models not included

KTM has clarified that the new warranty scheme is only for road-legal motorcycles. Track-only models and off-road bikes will not be part of the programme.

In recent years, some of KTM’s bigger twin-cylinder motorcycles, especially the 790 and 890 models, had drawn attention because of engine reliability issues. Reports pointed to camshafts wearing out earlier than expected. The company says those issues have now been addressed.

Another important point about the new warranty is that it is linked to the motorcycle rather than the owner. This means that if the bike is sold within the four-year period, the remaining warranty will still apply to the next owner, as long as the motorcycle has been serviced at authorised KTM service centres.
