KTM 160 Duke Teased For The First Time; India Launch Soon?

KTM 160 Duke Teased in India: KTM pulled the plug on its 125cc bikes – the 125 Duke and the RC 125 – in early 2025, to make way for bigger 160cc units designed specifically for the Indian market. Fast forward to the present day, KTM has dropped the teaser image of the 160 Duke, indicating that the bike will be launched in the country in the coming weeks.

KTM 160 Duke: Engine, Platform

It is speculated that the upcoming 160 Duke will be KTM India’s most affordable product. Although it will slot below the bigger 200 Duke, the 160 Duke could borrow most of the underpinnings and mechanical components from the bigger bike. This means that the engine will be a detuned version of a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor. Whereas the 200 Duke makes 24.6bhp and 19.3 Nm of torque using a six-speed gearbox, the KTM 160 Duke is expected to churn out around 20 bhp and 15 Nm.

If this materialises, the 160 Duke will become more powerful than the Yamaha MT 15, which currently develops 18.1 bhp and 14.1 Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. Also, expect the bike to share the platform, suspension, and braking components with the 200 Duke. For those unaware, the 200 Duke uses a trellis frame, suspended by upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. Stopping power comes from disc brakes, and wheels are 17-inch alloy units.

KTM 160 Duke: Styling, Features

When it comes to styling, KTM doesn’t offer much information, but we can spot an LED headlamp, a slim tail section, and the 390 Duke-like alloy wheels. Features-wise, expect the bike to get dual-channel ABS, full-LED illumination, and a TFT digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.

Upon launch in India, the KTM 160 Duke will directly rival the Yamaha MT 15 (Rs 1.70 lakh – Rs 1.81 lakh, ex-showroom).
