Actor Kriti Sanon has revealed that she decided to freeze her eggs while preparing for her film Mimi, calling it one of the “smartest” decisions she has made for herself. Speaking in a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, the actor shared that the timing coincided with her physical transformation for the film, making it the ideal opportunity to undergo the procedure.
The 35-year-old actor explained that egg freezing often causes bloating and hormonal changes, and since she had already been asked to gain weight for her role in Mimi, she felt it was the right time to go ahead with it.
“I spoke to someone who told me this is the if you can. It’s the best gift that you can give yourself. It stayed on my mind. Then, when I was told to gain weight, I thought this was the right time to do it,” she said.
The actor also opened up about the emotional and physical impact of the process, revealing that the procedure led to significant hormonal changes and that she experienced a range of emotions while undergoing it.
Explaining what led her to the decision, Sanon said she gave it considerable thought and did not want to feel . The actor shared that she never wanted to be “tied down” by the feeling that she “need(s) to get married now, or I need to have kids now” simply because time was running out.
She added that major life decisions such as marriage and parenthood should come from personal readiness rather than societal expectations or age-related pressure. “Whether it’s marriage, whether it’s kids, you need to do it when you feel it inside, you feel ready for it. It shouldn’t come out of some clock or pressure,” the Heropanti actor said.
Meanwhile, the actor was last seen in Cocktail 2. Directed by Homi Adajania and written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain, Cocktail 2 serves as a spiritual successor to the 2012 romantic drama. Backed by producers Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under Maddock Films and Luv Films, the film features Shahid Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles.
