Four stairs of Krishna devotion
Krishna janmashtami 2025: There are four foundation in the path of Krishna devotion, name, form, leela and dham. The devotee leads the devotee towards Bhagwat attainment in a phased manner. According to Bhagwat and spiritual texts, by adopting these stages, the heart is clean, devotion is deep and the devotee experiences the interview of Lord Krishna.
It is said in the Srimad Bhagwat Mahapuran that the path of Krishna devotion rests on four main grounds. Name, Roop, Leela and Dham. They are also called a phased path of devotion. The spiritual journey of every devotee passes almost this order. If someone adopts these four grounds with reverence and love, then his life is spiritually rich and he slowly moves towards Bhagavata.
For a true devotee, these four stages are the basis of Krishna devotion and adopting them is considered a sign of permanent success in the path of devotion.
First Phase: Name – Start of devotion
The journey of devotion begins with chanting the name. When the devotee starts chanting the name of Shri Krishna, he starts falling in love with the name of God. While chanting “Hare Krishna” Mahamantra, the mind becomes pure and a permanent feeling in the heart sprouts.

Chanting with full dedication without worrying about any benefit.
Second phase: form – fascinated in the form of God
When the heart becomes stable in the name chanting, then the devotee becomes fascinated by Shri Krishna. The idol of God, such as Laddu Gopal, Banke Bihari or Muralidhar, the devotee becomes emotional and is lost in Krishna. This phase takes the devotee closer to the interview of God.

Regular darshan and worship by going to the temple.
Service by installing idol or picture of God in the house.
Remembering his crown, Vanshi and Pitambar while meditating.
Third phase: Leela – Rum in stories
After being fascinated in the form, the devotee’s mind draws towards Leela. The stories from Vraj’s Bal Leela to the war of Mahabharata lead to life, love and actions of God. The devotee sinks into joy while listening to these pastimes.

Regular text of Bhagwat or Gita.
Participation in Katha and Kirtan.
Meditation and discussion on God’s pastimes.
Fourth phase: Dham – Last stop of Bhagwat interview
When the name of the devotee automatically draws towards the abode of God after the name, Roop and Leela’s practice. Holy places like Vrindavan, Mathura or Dwarka are witnesses of God’s pastimes. It is believed that the devotee stops with time, then Krishna definitely meets in some form or the other. This is the last phase, by crossing which the devotee gets Bhagwat and ultimate peace.

Stop taking time in pilgrimage.
Service, bhajan and meditation in Dham.
Take 24 hours time and stay there with full devotion.

Name– The foundation of the mind pure and permanent expressions.
Form– Personal and emotional connection with God.
Leela– Communication of devotional juice in the heart.
Dham– Interview with God and the final Bhagavata.
