KKR vs SRH: Finn Allen scripts big record in IPL with explosive cameo

New Delhi: New Zealand batter Finn Allen scripted a big record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with an explosive cameo during the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clash on Thursday. After SRH scored 226/8 in the first innings at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, giving a target of 227 to Knight Riders, the hosts started off on a fiery note.

The 26-year-old batter Allen opened the innings along with skipper Ajinkya Rahane and got the team off to a blazing start what was required in the chase. With the help of two massive sixes and four boundaries, Allen scored 28 runs off just 7 balls to wreak havoc on the Sunrisers bowlers’. It was only after SRH’s Harsh Dubey took his wicket, the visiting side could breathe a sigh of relief.

En route his brilliant short innings, Allen scripted a big IPL record to join some elite players in the group. In the very first over of the second innings bowled by David Payne, Allen smashed as many as 24 runs to register a record for the most runs scored in the first over of an IPL innings.

He currently sits at the joint-second position along with Prithvi Shaw. The list is led by Yashasvi Jaiswal who had scored 26 runs in the first over back in 2023 edition.
