Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been one of the most unimpressive teams of the IPL 2026. They have played three games, and stand in the 8th position of the points table with just 1 point on the board.
They have been defeated in two matches and registered their first points on the board when their last match against Punjab Kings was washed out due to rain. They will now look to turn things around when they take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 9. They will now be boosted massively with a good news surrounding Cameron Green.
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, Cameron Green will most likely bowl against LSG on Thursday. Cricket Australia had on March 30, stated that Green would need around 10 days before he was allowed to bowl. Since more than 10 days will pass after this mandate, HGreen ‘s chance of bowling increases a lot.
Cameron Green has been in pretty poor form in IPL 2026. He has scored just 24 runs in three games with the bat, and has not bowled yet. He was bought by KKR in the IPL 2025 auction for Rs 25 crore.
When Will Matheesha Pathirana Return?
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, sources close to Matheesha Pathirana hope that he would be in India with the KKR camp by mid-April. He had injured his calf during the match against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2026. Even though he has returned to bowling in the nets, he is yet to be issued a No Objection Certificate by Sri Lanka Cricket. This fitness test is set to be conducted next week according to the report.
A few days ago, Matheesha Pathirana’s manager Amila Kalugalage hinted that the star pacer might return to the IPL soon, by posting a video of him bowling.
