Kiran Abbavaram: I was supposed to do Sambarala Yeti Gattu

During the promotions of Chennai Love Story, Kiran Abbavaram made a surprising revelation. He stated that Sambarala Yeti Gattu was first offered to him. The period action drama, being made on a massive Rs. 100 crore budget, is now headlined by Sai Dharam Tej.

Kiran Abbavaram said, “I was supposed to do Sambarala Yeti Gattu. Rohit (director) and I met during the shoot of SR Kalyanamandapam. He is a very nice person. He narrated a story to me that could be made on a Rs. 2 crore budget. I asked him to come back with a script with a bigger canvas as I understood his skill set. I share a good rapport with producer Niranjan anna (Prime Show Entertainment), and I suggested Rohit’s name to him.”

He added, “While the script was being developed, my films started failing. The scale and budget kept increasing. At that time, the proposed budget was Rs. 70-80 crores. I myself wouldn’t suggest that a producer invest such a huge sum on me. On top of that, my films weren’t doing well. Even though the story is solid, I didn’t want to take the risk. The producer still wanted to make it with me, but I wasn’t comfortable.”
