South Korea’s Kim Eunggwon had a sensational campaign at the PPA Asia 125 Skechers Shandong Challenger in Jinan, China. He clinched three medals across men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles categories.
The tournament was held from October 4 to 7.
Eunggwon clinched gold in men’s singles, silver in both doubles events. He partnered Jack Wong in men’s doubles and Kwon Mihae in mixed doubles.
Kim’s latest performance in Jinan adds to that growing list of results, with the singles title providing a significant highlight alongside the two silver medals.
Kim and Wong had also reached the men’s doubles final at the Skechers Shenzhen Open in August, where they finished runners-up to Collin Johns and Len Yang. That result marked their first men’s doubles final of 2026.
Wong had expressed confidence in the partnership following the Shenzhen final, writing on social media, “We are playing good, lets keep it up we will win the next one.”
Although the pair fell short of gold again in Shandong, consecutive finals appearances at PPA Asia events highlight their consistency and growing competitiveness.
While Kim has already enjoyed success in doubles, his men’s singles victory in Jinan was the standout result of the tournament.
Winning a singles title while reaching finals in both doubles categories requires consistency across different playing styles and formats. Kim’s three-final run demonstrated his versatility and ability to maintain a high level throughout the four-day competition.
With his table tennis background providing a foundation for his game, the South Korean will look to build on the result as the Asian pickleball season approaches its conclusion.
Kim’s next major assignment is the Hang Seng Bank Hong Kong Slam, a PPA Asia 1500 event scheduled at Kai Tak Arena. The tournament is billed as Asia’s first 1500-level event and the grand finale of the 2026 season.
He is listed to partner Wong in men’s doubles and Tang in mixed doubles, bringing together the two partnerships behind some of his strongest doubles results.
