The is all set to go on sale in India tomorrow, August 4, and the SUV has already started arriving at dealerships ahead of the official launch. A new walkaround video of the India-spec model in the clear has surfaced online giving us a closer look at the styling, interior and equipment. The Indian version is very similar to the model sold abroad, but the video gives us a few important clues about the specifications and features that might be offered here.
Kia Sorento: Expected Exterior Design
The design of the international version of Sorento has been retained in its Indian version too. The face of the car has been designed with the signature Tiger Nose grille of Kia, making the large SUV look intimidating.
There are vertically oriented ice-cube LED projector headlamps at the front along with LED fog lamps located in the lower part of the front bumper. On the sides of the SUV, there are chunky body claddings along with chromed window lines and roof rails. The SUV seen in the video clip from the car dealership has 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
In the rear part of the SUV, there are vertically orientated taillamps along with an additional stop lamp in the roof spoiler. The lower part of the rear bumper has been covered with black cladding along with chrome finish.
Kia Sorento: Expected Interior and Features
The interiors may be one of the main selling points of the Sorento in India. As far as the car from the recently released video is concerned, this looks to be a high-spec version of the seven-seater car with light interiors. In this case, the interiors have a white-grey finish and not the tan finish on the top-of-the-range six-seater version that was previously seen. Moreover, the car also comes with 60:40 foldable second-row bench seat.
There are quite a few items visible in the cabin, including the panoramic sunroof, the dual screen dashboard design and the sun blinds for the rear passengers. Some of the other features that will be included in the SUV include the Bose audio system, ventilated seats, rotary shifter, wireless phone charging and 360-degree camera.
Kia has also considered passenger comfort for those who ride at the back seats. There are separate vents for the air-conditioner for the second row and the third row, as well as Type-C charging ports and a 12V power outlet for those sitting at the third row. There will also be a power tailgate, providing ease in accessing the luggage compartment. There is going to be an ADAS system in the new Sorento as well, but the features will be disclosed at the launch.
Kia Sorento: Expected Engine and Gearbox
The diesel and hybrid versions of the India-bound Sorento will reportedly be available. The version shown in the dealership video is reported to be using an eight-speed DCT mated to a 2.2-litre diesel engine, and this engine has a power output of 200 bhp and peak torque of 441 Nm. The 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine, on the other hand, is reportedly to come with a six-speed auto gearbox, producing 240 bhp and 380 Nm of torque.
