New Delhi: Kia India, have launched their first made-in-India electric vehicle, the Carens Clavis EV, starting at Rs 17.99 lakh. It is designed to cater to the evolving needs of prospective EV customers. Kia have said that it will fit perfectly in both long road trips and inter-city commutes. The design and performance are touted to showcase Kia’s vision for the future of electric mobility.
Kia are offering two battery options, a 42 kWh with ARAI certification of 404 km range-MIDC Full and 51.4 kWh, which has ARAI-certified 490 km range-MIDC Full. The motor options include 99 kW and 126 kW output with torque of 255 Nm, which is brilliant for acceleration. Designed for smooth and responsive performance, the battery is globally benchmarked and validated locally that ensuring durability, safety and adaptability to Indian driving conditions.
It can go from 10 per cent to 80 per cent charging in 39 minutes with a 100 kW DC charger. The Kia Carens Clavis can go from 0-100 kph in 8.4 seconds.

On the inside, it features a 67.62 cm Dual Panoramic Display Panel that manages to integrate both infotainment and driver instrument cluster. Further, it gets a Bose premium sound system, with eight speakers, 64 colour ambient lighting for the cabin, including footwell lamps, ventilated front seats and a powered driver’s seat for enhanced comfort. It also gets a dual-pane panoramic sunroof for a light-filled cabin.
To enhance the driving experience, the Kia Carens Clavis EV gets paddle shifters. Drivers can access four levels of regenerative braking using paddle shifters that are tailored for energy recovery and deceleration to the preference of the driver.
The Caren Clavis EV also gets ADAS Level 2 with 20 autonomous features that include smart cruise control with stop and go, lane keeping assist and front collision-avoidance assist. Further, it has blind spot collision warning, blind view monitor in cluster, rear cross traffic collision-avoidance assist, safe exit warning, and electric parking brake with auto-hold. It will have the usual safety features like six airbags, ESC, Hill Assist Control, Downhill Brake Control, Rear parking sensors, rear occupant alert and the lot.
For better connectivity, the Caren Clavis EV has 90 advanced connected features designed to enhance the driving experience, smartphone integration, intelligent navigation and remote-control capabilities. There is also the option of setting a charge limit, scheduling charging and more.
