New Delhi: Kia has announced that the EV2 electric crossover will make its first public appearance at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show on January 9. The car is based on the EV2 Concept shown earlier this year and will be the brand’s new entry-level EV in global markets. Kia has also registered the EV2 name in India, so a launch here is possible.
More technical details are expected closer to the global reveal. The EV2 will be placed below the EV4 and EV5 in Kia’s EV line-up and is meant for buyers looking for a simple, budget-friendly electric crossover for daily use. If Kia decides to bring it to India, the EV2 will likely compete with upcoming compact electric models from Tata and Hyundai.
Kia EV2 body and design
Kia EV2 body
Kia has shared a few teaser images of the upcoming EV2, and they show that the final design is quite close to the earlier concept. At the front, the EV2 gets sharp, vertical LED headlights on both sides. There is a tough-looking skid plate and heavy cladding below it, which gives the car a slightly rugged look. The side profile doesn’t reveal much, except for the boxy shape and a window line that angles upward toward the rear.
Kia EV2 body design
The back of the EV2 shows more details. It has low-positioned LED taillamps that look similar to the ones on the Kia Syros. There is also a large roof spoiler, a slightly slanted rear windscreen, and thick cladding around the bumper area. These elements give the car a simple but purposeful design.
Kia EV2 battery power
Kia EV2
Kia hasn’t shared the mechanical specs yet. However, the EV2 is expected to be based on the same 400V E-GMP platform used by the Hyundai Inster. However, the Inster is equipped with 42kWh and 49kWh battery options; the EV2 could offer similar battery sizes. The EV2 will use a single motor mounted at the front, making it a front-wheel-drive model. Power figures are not confirmed yet. While the claimed range of the EV2 is, it could deliver between 350km and 400km on a full charge.
