In Gujarat, procurement of groundnut, moong, urad and soybean will start from November 9 at support price. MSP has been increased by Rs 400-480. The procurement of more than Rs 15,000 crore will provide fair prices and economic security to farmers.
Gandhinagar. Gujarat Agriculture Minister Shri Jitubhai Vaghani told in Gandhinagar on Wednesday that the state government has taken a big decision in the interest of farmers. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, procurement of Kharif crops like groundnut, moong, urad and soybean at support price (MSP) will be started in the state from November 9. The objective of this decision is to provide fair price and financial security to the farmers for their produce.
Increase in support price under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi
Shri Vaghani said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Central Government has significantly increased the support price this year so that farmers can be saved from financial loss.
- Peanut price increased by ₹480 per quintal
- Urad increased by ₹ 400 per quintal
- Increase of ₹436 per quintal in soybean
With this increase, farmers will be able to get remunerative prices for their produce and their income will increase.
There will be purchases worth more than Rs 15,000 crore
The Agriculture Minister said that under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Income Protection Campaign, the state government will purchase groundnut, moong, urad and soybean worth more than Rs 15,000 crore from farmers this season. With this, farmers will not be forced to sell their produce at low prices.
Decision to purchase 125 maunds of peanuts per farmer
In view of the bumper production of groundnut in the state this year, the government has taken a generous decision to purchase up to 125 maunds of groundnut per farmer. This decision has been taken to provide relief to the farmers and ensure right price as per the production.
Procurement will take place at more than 300 centers
The Agriculture Minister said that more than 300 centers have been approved for the purchase of Kharif crops across the state, where purchases will be made at support prices. If necessary, the number of these centers will be increased further.
Support price declared by the Central Government
The Government of India had announced the support price for Kharif crops even before sowing.
- Groundnut: ₹7263 per quintal
- Moong: ₹8768 per quintal
- Urad: ₹7800 per quintal
- Soybean: ₹5328 per quintal
