What is called Khar month?
According to astrology, the Sun changes its zodiac sign every 30 days. Whenever the Sun enters the zodiac signs of Jupiter planet Sagittarius and Pisces, it is called Khar month. In this way the month of Khar comes twice a year. When the Sun enters Sagittarius, it is called Dhanu Khar month and when the Sun enters Pisces, it is called Meen Khar month.

When will Khar month start in 2026?
According to Ujjain’s astrologer Pt. Nalin Sharma, the Sun will leave Aquarius and enter Pisces on March 14, 2026. Sun will remain in this zodiac sign till Tuesday, April 14. That means the time from 14th March to 14th April will be called Meen Khar month. During this period, no auspicious work like marriage, mundan and housewarming etc. will be done. This time is considered very good for devotion to God.
Why Khar month is not performed in Khar month?
During the month of Khar, no auspicious functions like marriage, engagement, tonsure and house warming etc. are done, there is a religious belief hidden behind this. According to him, during the month of Khar, when the Sun is in its Jupiter’s sign, the position of the planet Jupiter becomes weak. Due to less auspicious effect of Jupiter, doing any auspicious work is prohibited during this period. But in the month of Khar, devotion to God and chanting, penance, charity etc. have special importance.
