Fresh CCTV footage has surfaced showing the late-night attack and vandalism at popular educator Khan Sir’s coaching centre in Patna, that left a security guard injured and sparked outrage among students. The footage, accessed by PTI, shows a group of masked men allegedly attacking the coaching centre, hurling bricks, tearing down posters and damaging property outside the institute.
According to the footage, a scuffle between two individuals was followed by the arrival of a larger group. Several masked men can then be seen throwing bricks at the coaching centre, pulling down flex boards and posters, and vandalising the premises.
Some of the attackers were also seen striking posters carrying images of Khan Sir. The incident took place late Tuesday night and caused significant damage to the property.
A security guard posted at the institute was injured during the attack and was later taken for medical treatment.
Threats Allegedly Issued Before Attack
Speaking to the media after the incident, Khan Sir said he rushed to the centre around 11.30 pm after being informed about the vandalism.
He claimed that thousands of students from his coaching institute had recently cleared the Bihar Police recruitment examination and were felicitated at a special event. According to him, shortly after the programme, some individuals allegedly threatened that the coaching centre would be “blown up” within two days.
Khan Sir also alleged that some rival coaching operators could be behind the attack, claiming his institute had been targeted for offering affordable education to students. However, police have not officially confirmed this allegation.
Police Examine Coaching Rivalry Angle
The coaching management has handed over CCTV footage to the police, while the injured security guard has reportedly identified some of the accused.
Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma said the preliminary investigation suggests that some students may have been involved in the assault and vandalism. Police are examining all angles, including possible rivalry between coaching institutes operating in the area.
A large number of students gathered outside the coaching centre on Wednesday in support of Khan Sir, who has also demanded enhanced security for himself and the institute.
Police said a detailed investigation is underway and action will be taken against those responsible.
