India has expressed official condolences after the opposition criticized the death of Iranian leader Khamenei. The Foreign Secretary went to the Iranian Embassy and expressed condolences. Congress has termed the PM’s silence as shameful and termed it as the result of foreign pressure.
New Delhi: India has finally expressed condolences on the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint US-Israel attack. On behalf of the Central Government, Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry reached the Iranian Embassy in Delhi and expressed condolences. He signed the condolence book kept at the embassy and also met the Iranian ambassador. The opposition was strongly attacking the central government for not reacting till now to Khamenei’s death. The opposition said that the government’s silence is shameful for India. After this criticism, India has officially sent its condolence message.

Meanwhile, Congress has intensified its attack on the Prime Minister over the incident of sinking of an Iranian ship off the Sri Lankan coast. Congress said that the guest was insulted by being invited and India’s policy of not saying anything is shameful. Criticizing Rahul Gandhi, he said that the struggle has reached the doorstep, but the Prime Minister is silent. In his response, Rahul also repeated the allegation that the Prime Minister has compromised. Congress leader Pawan Kheda also said that the Prime Minister has become a puppet of others. This surrender before America is destroying the dignity of the country. Why did the Prime Minister go to Israel? The Prime Minister did not say a word on Khamenei’s death.
