It has been a while since gave a box office hit. From Daayra to Khalifa, he hasn’t seen a roar at the box office, not in the way he should, at least. The director of the latter film thinks it has to do with the cult hate for the actor rather than any solid reason.
According to the director, the film was a sure hit in the making. However, a mob hate that had formed around the actor gave the kind of impression that simply didn’t work in its favour.

Taking to Instagram, director addressed his latest film, , flopping at the box office. For a while now, he’d only been sharing posts of praise for his film after its OTT release. However, he switched it up by sharing a post that said the film’s failure had to do with the hatred surrounding Prithviraj Sukumaran.
“A film which came with huge hype, but became a box office flop … Had this in my theatre list, but had to watch on OTT yesterday. Must say, it a classic example of utter degrading, review bombing and hatred towards Prithvi.”
The post continued, “True that it had BKU as a rival. Still, had it been helmed by any other lead actor, the fate would have been different … It had all the elements for a mass masala entertainer with class music, editing and direction. Had required plot twists and yes, is a bit old school but what’s the issue? We also need such unrealistic mass movies too among so-called natural’ ones!! Felt sorry for director Vysakh to see his efforts went vain.”
Fans, however, found him resharing the post to be petty. They weren’t very fond of him blaming it all on Prithviraj Sukumaran’s public perception rather than admitting that the film could be flawed too.

It’s not about natural or mass genres. As a big fan of #vyshakh I can clearly say #khalifa didn’t gave any high in any scenes. #prithviraj was fantastic but movie was abelow average because of poor script and mis placed bgm.
To them, it became clear that he didn’t understand why the film didn’t work, with it having nothing to do with the actor but more to do with the script and the overall way that the project turned out.
