Travancore Devaswom Board Dalit priest P.R. Vishnu has resigned. He alleged caste discrimination and constant threats. The harassment started after a police complaint filed 2 years ago.
Kochi: P.R. of Alanagad Koduvazhanga Pallathuparambil, a Dalit priest working in the Travancore Devaswom Board. Vishnu has resigned. Vishnu was a priest at the Vaaturakkavu Devi temple under the Tiruvallur sub-group of the Paravur Group. Vishnu said that two years ago, when he was working as a substitute priest at Thathapilli Bhagavathi temple, he had filed a police complaint regarding caste discrimination. After this, he had to face things like threats and taunts.
Vishnu also told that at that time there was pressure and threats from many quarters to withdraw the complaint filed. He also clarified that the money paid for union membership had also been returned. It is reported that complainant Vishnu again faced threats after it was revealed that the gold jewelery at the Vaaturakkavu temple where he was currently working was found to be fake. He got this job four months ago through the Travancore Devaswom Recruitment Board. Vishnu clarified that for this reason he decided to leave this job.
