Kerala Weather Update: The Regional Meteorological Centre on Saturday issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts of Kerala for the next few days.

The weather department has put multiple districts, including Kasaragod, Kannur, Ernakulam, and Idukki, on orange alert, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall till August 19. On the other hand, a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall has been issued for Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram and other districts. The MeT department has advised residents to limit their outdoor activities and follow official weather updates to avoid inconveniences.

The Meteorological Centre stated that several districts of Kerala, including Kasaragod, Kannur, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Idukki, are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning between August 16 to August 19. The rainfall is likely to bring temperatures down by a few degrees, bringing relief from persistent heat.

Kerala Weather Forecast: Yellow Alert In THESE Districts

Apart from an orange alert, the Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain in Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvanathapuram. These districts are likely to witness light to moderate rain accompanied by one or two spells of isolated heavy showers, thunderstorms and lightning.

Meanwhile, no alerts are in place for the remaining districts as the intensity of rainfall has decreased over the past few days. However, rain is expected in Kerala over the next few days till August 20, with several districts placed under orange or yellow alert. The weather department has advised residents to stay alert and plan their outings accordingly.
