Kelly Osbourne is once again in the headlines due to her weight loss update. But unlike any transformation, she has once again addressed the public criticism over her appearance after a new wave of comments surfaced about her dramatic weight loss.
In the last few months after her father, Ozzy’s, death, she lost weight. However, netizens blamed it on weight loss drugs like Ozempic. In turn, Kelly stated that people are being “funny and mean” by calling her out. Because in reality, she is “doing the best that she can” after her father’s death. Amidst this statement, let’s examine Kelly’s long weight loss journey over the years.
Kelly Osbourne’s weight loss journey over the years
Kelly Osbourne has been open about her years of struggle with weight, body image and pressures of growing up in front of the camera. She revealed on The Osbournes Podcast in 2024 that she was told as a child that she “was too fat for TV”. As a result, throughout her adulthood, she has been in a battle with emotional eating, addiction, and harsh public judgment.

A major turning point came for her in 2018 after she underwent a gastric sleeve surgery, leading to an 85-pound weight loss. She then told Hollywood Raw Podcast that she did not care what people had to say about it, and it was one of the best things she had ever done. Contrary to claims that she did the surgery for a “quick fix” to her weight loss, she mentioned that the procedure only “moved her in the right direction”. Consequently, it was exercise and nutrition which helped her reduce weight. The surgery helped her reduce cravings tied to her addiction issues by cutting a specific hormone.

Kelly Osbourne had a second battle with loss after pregnancy
Kelly Osbourne welcomed her son, Sidney, in 2022, but pregnancy brought new complications for her. She gained 100 pounds during the term and suffered from gestational diabetes. Speaking on the Scheananigans podcast, Kelly revealed that the condition caused rapid weight gain despite not eating much. After giving birth, she was determined to lose weight, which led her to push herself too hard. In her words:
“I was on a mission after having the baby… I went a little bit too far, but I stopped.”

However, amid all this, Kelly Osbourne has repeatedly denied using Ozempic and told Extra in 2024 that she never took the diabetes drug. But at the same time, she revealed that she had spoken to people who used it successfully and expressed support for them. Kelly has also undergone non-surgical treatments like EMFACE and EMSCULPT to tighten her stomach, which had “lost elasticity.”
