Dorothy is an independent period drama directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film, headlined by Keerthy Suresh, caught the attention of audiences when it premiered at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. The movie has been receiving huge appreciation from celebrities even before its release.
Though the first weekend wasn’t strong in Tamil Nadu, the film held well during the weekdays, with word-of-mouth spreading rapidly. The Telugu version was released yesterday, but it failed to get going at the box office.
There has been low awareness on one side, while on the other hand, the film’s content itself has a niche appeal, restricting its impact. As a result, Dorothy saw negligible numbers on day one at the Telugu states box office.
It remains to be seen if it can pick up here too, like it did in Tamil Nadu. The movie is jointly produced by Sikhya Entertainment and Jio Studios. Sananth and Rishikanth play other key roles.
