The Kerala Cricket League (KCL) Season 3 auction witnessed some intriguing moves on Saturday (July 11), with Sachin Baby emerging as a marquee buy, fetching Rs 10 lakh by Alleppey Ripples.
The most expensive buy of the auction was Sibin Gireesh, who fetched a massive Rs 11.80 lakh from the Ripples as well.
Kochi Blue Tigers were among the busiest franchises during the auction, strengthening their squad with several key additions. The Blue Tigers, along with Thrissur, completed the full maximum quota of 20 players.
In a surprising development, former Mumbai Indians left-arm spinner Vignesh Puthur went unsold at first, but was later roped in buy Calicut Globstars at a reduced base price of Rs 1.50 lakh.
The auction also witnessed several strategic Right to Match (RTM) moves, with franchises retaining key players such as K.M. Asif (Kochi Blue Tigers), Akshay TK (Alleppey Ripples), Nikhil M (Trivandrum Royals), Jobin Joby (Kochi Blue Tigers), Sreeroop MP (Alleppey Ripples) and Ibnul Afthab (Calicut Globstars).
