Lord Krishna’s conch Panchjanya is being discussed once again. This discussion is because Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to Kurukshetra in Haryana today i.e. on Tuesday, where the newly constructed ‘Panchjanya’ will be inaugurated in the honor of the sacred conch of Krishna. This is the conch, the sound of which used to travel many kilometers away and the Kauravas would tremble and even the Karukshetra would tremble.
According to the story, Lord Shri Krishna had received education from Guru Sandipani. After completion of education, Guru Sandipani asked for Dakshina from his son. Actually, his son drowned in the sea, who was swallowed by a demon named Shankhasura. Shri Krishna promised the Guru that he would return his son.
God had killed the demon Shankhasura
Lord Krishna and Balram went into the sea to find the son of Guru Sandipani and asked the demon Shankhasura to return his Guru’s son. This displeased the demon and he started fighting with the Lord. The demon was defeated in the war. After being defeated, he told that his guru’s son has reached Yamalok.
God killed the demon, after which the Panchajanya conch was born from his body. The Lord kept the conch with himself and then left for Yamalok, where seeing his anger Yamraj became frightened and sent the soul of Sandipani’s son back to earth. God gifted the conch to his Guru along with his son, but Guru Sandipani returned the conch to Shri Krishna, after which it became God’s forever.
Specialty of Panchjanya Shankh
The specialty of this Panchjanya conch was that its sound could reach several kilometers. It is said that its conch sound was so loud that it was considered equal to the roar of 1000 lions. During the Mahabharata war, Krishna used this conch for 18 days. The war began in the morning and ended in the evening with the sound of this conch. As soon as the conch was blown in the morning, the Pandavas were filled with excitement, while the Kauravas became frightened. Not only this, Panchjanya conch is also said to be a symbol of prosperity and happiness along with victory.
