An encounter took place on Sunday between security forces and Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists in Singhpora area of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. During this, the terrorists threw grenades, in which 8 security personnel were injured. There is a possibility of 35 terrorists hiding in the area.

According to the police, intermittent firing is going on in the area. It is believed that three terrorists of Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammed organization are involved in this.
Terrorists threw grenades at security forces
According to the information, during the encounter the terrorists also threw grenades at the security personnel. In view of the situation, security has been increased in the area. According to reports, 8 security personnel have been injured in this encounter. Most of these soldiers were injured in the grenade blast. All the injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Encounter started during ‘Operation Trashi-I’
According to officials, the encounter started in Sonar village near Mandral-Singhora in Chatru area in the afternoon. The incident occurred during ‘Operation Trashi-I’, a cordon and search operation, being conducted by the Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps. Considering the situation, additional forces have been sent to the area.
Soldiers showed bravery in difficult circumstances
A statement issued by the Army said, “The soldiers displayed brilliant and strong resolve while responding to enemy fire in difficult terrain and conditions. The operation is ongoing and more troops have been sent to strengthen the cordon. Work is being done in coordination with the civil administration and other security agencies.”
Several encounters in Kishtwar-Doda in the last months
In the last few months, several encounters have taken place in Kishtwar and surrounding areas. On January 8, there was an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Kathua district. In November 2025, there was a heavy firing between terrorists and security personnel in Chatru area of Kishtwar, at that time J&K Police and Indian Army started a joint operation based on specific intelligence.
35 Pakistani terrorists may be hiding in hilly areas
A senior army officer had said last month that about 35 Pakistani terrorists were suspected to be hiding in the hilly forests of Kishtwar and Doda. The army has implemented a new counter-terror strategy in this area. Under this, operations are being intensified even in snow covered high areas. Operational activities are being continued even during the coldest phase of winter, i.e. ‘Chillai Kalan’, so that terrorists can be prevented from creating safe havens.
