Chennai: BJP MP Anurag Thakur, who was part of the BJP-NDA delegation that visited Karur where stampede took place during TK chief Vijay’s rally killing over 40, has written to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to take charge of the situation and complete a probe into the incident at the earliest.
“On behalf of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) the Eight member delegation visited the tragedy site and also met the families of the victims. The people are in deep pain and this unfortunate incident has raised serious questions in their minds regarding the reasons & circumstances that led to such an unfortunate incident,” Thakur wrote to Tamil Nadu CM in a letter.
‘Take charge of situation’
The former Union Minister also urged Stalin to take complete charge of this situation and urged the concerned authorities to furnish a report at the earliest covering aspects like primary reasons for the incident, crowd management measures and cause analysis.
Thakur further said the Karur probe must cover, “The primary reasons for the incident, the sequence of events that led to the occurrence of the stampede in Karur. What arrangements and precautionary measures were taken by the administration and law enforcement agencies to regulate and manage the crowd prior and during the event and What, according to the initial findings, were the lapses or unforeseen circumstances that contributed to the tragedy despite preventive actions.”
‘What steps being taken to stop such tragedies’
He also request CM Stalin to suggest and share the measures that are being planned by the State Government to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.
“Has there been a timeline that has been defined for submitting a comprehensive report on this incident and we urge that the findings of the same should be made public,” Thakur asserted.
Thakur said his letter to the CM seeks for detailed responses including department wise so that the accountability and responsibility of the incident can be fixed and the questions of the public can be addressed.
