Indian batsman Karun Nair has not been having a dream comeback to the Indian team, as he registered his fourth successive low score with his dismissal in the second innings of the second England-India Test being staged at the Edgbaston, Birmingham. Nair, who had batted at No. 3 in this match, edged a full-ish ball by Brydon Carse as wicketkeeper Jamie Smith effected a routine catch behind the stumps on Day 3.
This was a beautifully placed wicket for the young Englishman as he had been troubling Nair continuously with short and bouncy balls. A couple of balls having found the outer edge but stayed away from the slip cordon fielders, Nair had decided to play anything that was slightly fuller in length and hence he got a boundary in between the point and the gully area in the last over.
The following over, Carse was astute enough to push Nair into drive again, and as the batter picked up a full-length ball heading his way, his inherent instinct disappeared with the shot, only to discover the outer edge, as he had to return to the pavillion after contributing 26 runs off 46 balls.

Talking about Nair’s performance in the series, the Headingley Test witnessed the Karnataka-born score 0 and 20 batting at No. 6 as India lost the game. Arriving in Birmingham, the management attempted to push Nair higher up the order, as he came in with Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease at No. 3 and batted very well for his 31 runs, but was in his element taken aback by a short ball on the 50th ball he faced. And again in the second innings, Carse did it once more.
