Kartik Purnima 2025: Kartik Purnima is considered one of the most important and sacred full moons in Hinduism. It falls on the last day of Kartik month. This day is also known as Tripurari Purnima. This is mainly because along with Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva is also specially worshiped on this day. There is a popular Hindu story that on this day Lord Shiva had destroyed three demons who were creating terror in different worlds. After the destruction of the Tripuras, the importance of the glory and worship of Shiva increased further and the day came to be known as Tripurari Purnima.

Another major religious aspect of Kartik Purnima is bathing in the Ganges. It is believed that by taking a bath in the Ganga in the month of Kartik, all sins are washed away and salvation is attained. It is believed that on this day gods and goddesses from heaven also come to earth to take bath in the Ganga. Apart from this, Dev Diwali is also celebrated on this day. It is believed that on this day the gods descend on earth and light lamps to celebrate their victory over the demons.

Furthermore, Kartik Purnima is the day when the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born. This day has great importance in Sikhism. On this day, the Sikh community offers prayers, kirtan and chanting the name of the Lord in Gurudwaras.

In 2025, Kartik Purnima will be celebrated on 5 November. This date will start at 10:36 pm on November 4 and will last till 6:48 pm on November 5. Since Udaya Tithi is important and Purnima Tithi will remain till after sunrise on 5th November, hence Kartik Purnima will be celebrated on 5th November.
Auspicious time for bathing and worship in river Ganga
The auspicious time for bathing in river Ganga will be from 4:52 am to 5:44 am. The auspicious time of puja will be from 7:58 am to 9:20 am. The auspicious time of Pradosh Kaal (Dev Diwali) will be from 5:15 pm to 7:5 pm. Moonrise will happen at 5:11 pm.
