Kartik month has started on Tuesday as Sharad Purnima has concluded at 9.16 am. This month is very special in Hinduism, which has many festivals. At the same time, this month is considered dear to Lord Vishnu. According to the Hindu calendar, this is the eighth month, which has a special effect of charity, bathing and worship. It is said that Lord Vishnu resides in water in Kartik month.

According to the Hindu calendar, Kartik month has been called a special period of worship of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. It starts with Sharad Purnima. On the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of Karthik, Suhagin women fast on Karva Chauth. She fasts for her husband’s long life and observes the fast by offering arghya to the moon. In Kartik, the festival of Dhanteras is celebrated on Krishna’s Trayodashi. On this day Lord Dhanvantari was born, who dedicated Ayurveda to humanity. People buy gold-silver or metal utensils on this day and worship Lakshmi-Kuber. The next day of Dhanteras, there would be a festival of Narak Chaturdashi, which is also called Chhoti Diwali. It is believed that on this day Lord Krishna killed the Narakasura demon. Devotees do lamp donation, bath and auspicious work on this day so that darkness is destroyed.

The biggest festival of this month is Deepawali celebrated on Amavasya. This day Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after cutting exile for 14 years. On his arrival, Ayodhya residents burnt lamps of ghee. Since then this festival has been celebrated. People worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha and decorate their house by lighting a lamp. Govardhan Puja is performed on the next day of Deepawali.
