Karnataka: Woman flung into air after car hits her, accident caught on camera

New Delhi: A woman was severely injured after being hit by a car in Bantwal taluk in Mangaluru, Karnataka. The accident was caught on camera and has now gone viral all over the internet. The incident happened on Wednesday at Sajipamunnur of Dakshina Kannada district.

The woman who is seen being flung into the air has been identified as Bharathi. She was crossing the road, along with her daughter, when she was hit by the car.

Accident caught on camera

According to a report in the Times of India, Bharathi was left badly injured, following the collision with the car. The accident could have been a little less injurious had the woman not been flung into the air.

A CCTV camera installed nearby captured the entire incident. The woman seen in a red saree in the video, can be seen waiting on the side of the road, along with her daughter. As vehicles pass and the road seems to be clear, both step onto the road to cross it. They are seen walking a few steps, before the younger woman stops once again seeing an incoming car.

Bharathi however feels that she can run and cross the road, before the car would approach. She decides to sprint across the road. Unfortunately however, she is not quick enough and the car hits her. The woman is flung into the air and lands on the concrete road with a thud.

The car driver who hit her, stopped immediately. Her daughter can then be seen rushing to check on her and was crying seeing her injured mother.

Woman rushed to hospital, condition critical

The injured woman was rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru. She is currently undergoing treatment at the facility. However, her condition is said to be critical.

A case has been registered at the Bantwal Traffic Police Station in the matter. Investigations are currently on in the case, said officials.
