In Hassan, a husband killed his wife and threw her body in the river after she questioned his second marriage. In another incident, a husband strangled his wife after she refused to consent to a second marriage. Police are investigating both the cases.
Hassan: When questioned about her second marriage, husband Kumar killed his first wife Radha (40) and threw her body in the Yagchi river. The incident is said to have taken place on the night of January 10 in Yadoor village of the taluk. Deceased Radha was living separately from her husband for the last four years. Meanwhile, Radha came to know that Kumar had gone to Sabarimala in the first week of January, where during the Irumudi ritual, another woman had performed the puja in place of his wife. Radha had come to Yadoor on Saturday night to ask about this. It is alleged that there was a fight over this issue and the same night husband Kumar killed Radha. Police suspect that the body was later dumped in Yagchi river near Kandli in Hassan taluk.

In connection with this incident, Radha’s family members have alleged that her husband Kumar and his family members together committed the murder. Police have taken out the body from Yagchi river. This incident happened in the area of Alur police station and the police have registered a case and started investigation. The family members of the deceased have demanded strict action against the accused.

A case of murder by strangulation of the wife after she did not agree to the second marriage has been registered in the city police station. Chandanabai (23), a resident of Pandarahalli Camp in nearby Bommankatte, was the victim of this incident. Her husband is Gopi (28) of Pandarahalli. There were frequent fights between husband and wife over illicit relations. Apart from this, Gopi was saying for some days that he will marry again. He used to pressurize his wife to agree to second marriage and also beat her.
On Sunday evening, on the pretext of talking to his wife Chandanabai, he sent the rest of the house out and started quarreling with her. It is revealed that he strangled Chandana to death. Accused Gopi has already gone to jail in POCSO case. Holehonnur police has arrested Gopi.
