Bengaluru: In a shocking incident reported from Karnataka, a woman reportedly killed her husband and disposed of his body, along with her lover. The incident was reported from Kadashettihalli village of Tiptur taluk in Tumakuru district. The murder reportedly took place on June 24.
Victim lived alone
According to a report in NDTV, the victim, 50-year-old Shankaramurthy was staying at a farmhouse. His wife, Sumangala, who is accused of killing him is employed as a cook at Kalpataru Girls’ Hostel in Tiptur. She was allegedly in an illicit relationship with a man identified as Nagaraju. Nagaraju is from Karadalusante village.
According to the police, Sumangala and her lover decided to kill Shankaramurthy, because thy felt that he was the biggest hindrance in their relationship.
On the day of the murder, Sumangala threw chilli powder in her husband’s eyes and then beat him up. Once he fell down, she put her foot on his neck and pressed against it, until he died, said police officials.
After killing the man, the woman and her lover packed the body in a sack and then transported it for 30 kilometres, said Police. They dumped the body in a well at a farm located in Turuvekere taluk. The area comes under the jurisdiction of Dandanishivara police station.
The crime came to light after police received a missing person complaint. Initially the Nonavinakere Police Station was looking for Shankaramurthy, who was reported missing. However during investigations , the police found traces of chilli powder on the victim’s bed and also signs of a struggle. This raised suspicion.
The police then started to question his wife, Sumangala. Her call details were also searched and this gave rise to further suspicion, regarding her whereabouts on the day of the crime. Under immense police pressure and intense questioning, the woman broke down and confessed to the crime.
A case has been registered in this regard at the Nonavinakere police station. Investigations are underway, police said.
