Congress MLA KC Veerendra: In a raid against illegal betting, the ED arrested Karnataka Congress MLA KC Virendra from Gangtok. Rs 12 crore cash, gold, silver and luxury cars were seized from his locations.
The Central Government has made a law online gaming. With this, the Central Investigation Agency has intensified action against illegal betting. In the same sequence, ED (Enforcement Directorate) raided 31 places across the country on Friday-Saturday.
ED on Saturday arrested Karnataka MLA from Karnataka in connection with the ongoing investigation of alleged involvement in illegal online and offline betting of Congress MLA KC Virendra and his colleagues. He was produced before a judicial magistrate in Sikkim and received transit remand to bring Bangalore.
During the search, the ED searched for about Rs 12 crore cash (foreign currency of Rs 1 crore), about Rs 6 crore gold jewelry, 10 kg of silver goods and four expensive vehicles from the Congress MLA. The ED also freezed 17 bank accounts and two bank lockers.
ED recovered several property documents from Virendra’s brother KC Nagraj and his son Prithvi N Raj. The search revealed that Chitradurga MLAs Virendra King 567 and Raja 567 were running many betting platforms by names like 567 and Raja 567. Thippeswamy Dubai -based three firms Diamond Softc, TRS Technologies and Prime 9 were found operating 9 technologies. These betting were associated with call centers and gaming operations connected to the network.
ED raided Gangtok, Chitradurga district, Bengaluru, Hubli, Jodhpur, Mumbai and Goa. It consisted of five major casino-potato casino gold, Ocean reverse casino, puppy casino pride, Ocean 7 casino and Big Daddy Casino.
Investigation also revealed that Virendra and his companions recently went to Gangtoka via Bagdogra in search of lease for a casino. ED officials said that documents and digital evidence shows that the MLA has made complete arrangements to hide illegal income.
