Karnataka Congress leader asks CEO for copy of his own submitted documents after “misplacing originals”

Former Karnataka Minister and Congress leader H Nagesh has asked Karnataka Chief Electoral Office (CEO) to provide his “list of Documents” that he has provided to the CEO in April 2023, as they are “misplaced”.

In his letter dated July 31, Nagesh, who contested the 2023 Assembly elections as a Congress candidate from Mahadevapura, requested a copy of a list of documents he claims to have submitted in April 2023.The alleged letter reportedly included a list detailing forged entries in the constituency’s electoral rolls, which he argued raised questions over the transparency and fairness of the electoral process.

In his letter, he admitted to having misplaced the original documents and sought the CEO’s help in retrieving a copy.

Karnataka CEO’s office denies receiving Congress leader’s April 2023 Voter List Complaint.

In a reply dated August 2, 2025, the CEO’s office clarified that no such submission was received during April 2023. “This office does not have records of any such letter received from you…on the issue of electoral rolls with a list containing details of alleged forged entries,” the letter stated. The CEO’s office further highlighted that a statutory copy of the electoral roll is always made available online and is also shared with all contesting candidates during elections. It also pointed out that Nagesh has not filed any formal election petition or appeal under the Representation of the People Act, 1951 or 1950, in relation to the 2023 voter rolls.
