Karisma Kapoor Reveals She Learnt Bhangra by Watching Aunt Neetu Kapoor Dance

Actress Karisma Kapoor took a trip down memory lane on ‘India’s Best Dancer Season 5’, recalling how she learnt Bhangra by watching her aunt and veteran actress Neetu Kapoor perform the energetic Punjabi dance form.

The revelation came after contestants Deepali and Ritesh brought the festive spirit of Baisakhi to the stage with an energetic performance on the iconic song ‘Rang De Basanti’.

Impressed by their Bhangra performance, Karisma spoke about the attitude and energy required for the dance form and praised Neetu for her effortless moves.

“Bhangra karne ke liye you need that attitude, and Neetu aunty does it amazingly. Maine unse sikha,” Karisma said.

She recalled watching Neetu dance at a recent family wedding and said she tried to emulate her aunt’s moves.

“There was a wedding in our family recently, just two days ago, and she performed, so I was just admiring her and watching her. I actually learnt it from her and tried to match my Neetu aunty,” she added.

Neetu Kapoor, wife of late actor Rishi Kapoor, was among the leading actresses of Bollywood during the late 1970s and early 1980s. At the peak of her acting career, she stepped away from films after marrying Rishi Kapoor and focused on family life.

Neetu and Rishi Kapoor have two children, actor Ranbir Kapoor and jewellery designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Ranbir is married to actress Alia Bhatt.
