Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur made big waves with their 2013 film Aashiqui 2. Their chemistry was highly hailed following the film, and thus it became a massive success.
The actors later reunited once again for Shaad Ali`s OK Jaanu in 2017. However, like the previous time, Shraddha and Aditya were not able to create the same magic on screen.
Karan Johar reacts to OK Jaanu`s failure
During a recent conversation with Jay Shetty, producer Karan Johar spoke about the power of intuition, especially with regards to this film. The filmmaker and producer said, “we fail the power when we don`t listen to it.” Although he believes in it, Karan revealed that he hasn`t always listened to the voice.
Karan says he ignored his gut feeling about Shraddha and Aditya`s OK Jaanu. Karan recalled, “At that time, Aditya (Roy Kapur) and Shraddha (Kapoor) just had a hit, Aashiqui 2. They already agreed to do the film, and the film came to me as a project. Ready. With a great remake. Shaad Ali–a great director. Wonderful actors. And yet, in my heart, I actually felt that, ‘Should this film be remade?’ because it is so much in the moment. Can the moment be recaptured?”
Further reacting to the film`s failure, KJo noted that it wasn`t anyone`s fault. “Everyone did their job well. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t the right move–and I didn’t act on it. Even today, I sometimes don’t listen to my instincts. And when I don’t, I go wrong. It’s a mistake I keep making,” Karan added.
