Filmmaker-producer Karan Johar took to social media to celebrate his longtime collaborators and close friends, Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji, on their historic National Award wins.
Both actors were honoured with their first-ever National Film Awards. Shah Rukh as Best Actor for Jawan, and Rani as Best Actress for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. KJo congratulated Shah Rukh by sharing a long note and calling him Bhai, and also a beautiful note for ‘Queen’ Rani as he sent love to Rani Mukerji for her big win.

Taking to his official Instagram handle on Saturday, Karan shared a heartwarming post featuring a series of photos: snaps of Shah Rukh from Jawan, Rani from Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, and a nostalgic throwback of the trio from the sets of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Having worked with both actors on iconic films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, the moment held deep significance for Karan.
Karan’s note to Shah Rukh Khan
In an emotional note, he wrote,”Taking a pause in our celebrations to celebrate my friends for their cinema!!! @iamsrk bhai… this has been 33 years in the making and I can’t help but beam with pride. Redefining Indian cinema with every role you take on. Jawan and all your films are proof of the exceptional actor you are-lighting up every screen with your swag, charm, and pure SRK-ness!”
He continued,”Me and the entire world are rooting for you, celebrating you, and cheering for everything you do. There is truly no one like you. Congratulations, bhai… you deserve this and so much more. And like you always say… picture abhi baaki hai mere dost!”
Karan calls Rani Mukerji ‘Queen’
Turning his attention to Rani, Karan praised her emotional performance and consistency as a performer, “My dearest Rani… truly the queen of every screen she graces. Your performance hit everyone like a punch to the gut-so raw, so real, so moving. Few can do what you do, and you’ve always done it effortlessly. Congratulations! And I speak for everyone when I say-we can’t wait to see what’s next!”
He also acknowledged the team behind Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, “Biggest shoutout to @emmayentertainment for backing such a powerful story. Congratulations @madhubhojwani, @onlyemmay, @nikkhiladvani!”

“P.S. Fun fact-my first National Award win was with these two and Kajol by my side for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. If that’s not full circle, I don’t know what is.”

The 71st National Film Awards were announced on Friday in New Delhi, honouring some of the best performances in Indian cinema from the past year. Among the big winners was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The Karan Johar film bagged the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Choreography for Dhindora. Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani won two National Awards in total.
