Kapil Sharma’s drastic weight loss is the talk of the town these days. The 44-year-old comedian has worked a lot on himself to lose the extra flab and live a fitter lifestyle, his fitness trainer has revealed.
According to Yogesh Bhateja, Sharma used the 21-21-21 rule that worked wonders for him.
Bhateja says the first step Kapil took for the transformation was to change the way he eats. The fitness trainer emphasised that it is important to make tweaks in your lifestyle, which you can start with a basic breakfast that you eat or even while snacking. Apart from that, he said it is important to note and write down everything you eat in a day, which includes your water intake. “Maybe not physically, but mentally and emotionally. That’s where you start moving more…This is what I did during Kapil’s weight loss journey,” Bhateja said in an interview on YouTube.
How did Kapil lose weight through 21-21-21?
Bhateja said Kapil started with a basic and effective routine to shed weight, calling it the 21 21 21 rule. Here’s what it means:
According to Bhateja, the first 21 days of when you begin your weight loss journey, completely focus on moving your body, which means workouts to build muscles. “Go back 15-20 years, when schools used to conduct PT (physical training classes). Just do those exercises every day for 21 days, and you will not have to do any diet control or modification; eat jalebis as much as you want,” he said.
The next 21 days: Change your diet
And so, the next 21 days after that would strictly count what you eat. Taking care of your diet is of utmost importance, and modifications are necessary. “Keep a check on your diet. I am not saying cut your carbs, calories, or anything else. This is not the right approach. Only modify your diet,” he said.
According to Bhateja, you can also make changes in the timings of what you eat and drink. He advised cutting down on dairy and sugar, as they can add to inflammation and make you lethargic as well. “You will feel more active and comfortable. These modifications will make you fitter,” he added.
Next 21 days: Stop smoking, caffeine
Bhateja stressed controlling your emotional dependency or any kind of addiction to any substances that do not give you any health benefits. He advised stopping smoking and alcohol and controlling the intake of caffeine in coffee or tea.
“These 62 days will help you build an attitude without any pain because you focused on only 1 thing during each set of 21 days. Now you are driven and standing in the gym on the 22nd day. This practice will help you accept changes in your life because you are not cutting calories from your life; you are modifying it,” Bhateja explained.
He said that halfway through the process, you will witness changes in your body, which will act as motivation to go further till you achieve your goals.
“During this process, when you reach the 42nd day, you will see the change, and it will make you desperate to look better. That’s where I want to control or cut emotional dependency on smoking, drinking, overeating, sugar intake, and anything that is not good for your body. After 63 days, you will see a good change in your body, and you won’t need anyone to push you. This is what works best for beginners.”
