During the Kayad Yatra, the Kanwari is forbidden to pass under a particular tree. It is believed that Kavad is broken by passing under the sycamore tree.

It is also believed that this tree is also related to Yash Raj Kubera. When Kandiyas pass under this tree, their leaves or fruits come under their feet, which makes Lord Shiva and happy. This is the reason that Kanwari is said to be forbidden under these trees.

The fruit of sycamore contains innumerable animals, if the foot of a kanwiya falls on its fruit, then they feel the sin of killing those animals and their Kavad is broken. After this, that water is not able to climb Shiva and the Kanwari has to start their journey again.
