Kanpur Metro Project Update: Work progressing rapidly on Corridor-1
Corridor-1 of Kanpur Metro is about 23 kilometers long from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta. Out of this, metro operation has already started on 15.4 km stretch. In the remaining parts, work on underground and elevated sections is going on at a fast pace. The construction of two underground stations between Jhakarkatti and Transport Nagar is almost complete and now the final finishing work is going on. The track on the up line has been laid in the tunnel built by TBM, while the work on the down line is in the final stage.
Elevated Stations Trial Run: Trial continues from Baradevi to Naubasta
The structure of five elevated metro stations between Baradevi and Naubasta has been ready and now their finishing work is being done at a fast pace. Testing and trial runs of metro trains have started in this section from January 2026. It is expected that soon metro service will be started for the passengers in this part also.
Corridor-2 Construction: Fast construction from CSA University to Barra
The construction of Corridor-2 of Kanpur Metro is also progressing rapidly. This corridor will be approximately 8.6 kilometers long from CSA University to Barra. Work on three underground stations between Rawatpur and Double Pulia is in progress and tunnel construction is almost complete. Construction of five elevated stations from CSA University/Vijay Nagar to Barra is also in progress. This corridor is targeted to be completed by March 2027.
