Kidnapping and gang rape of minor girl, policeman named among the accused

The streets of Kanpur looked normal on Monday night. But that night an incident was happening in Sachendi police station area, which put the entire city to shame. A 14-year-old student was becoming the victim of kidnapping, bondage and brutality, while there was quiet darkness all around. No one saw anything, no one heard anything, and the same silence emerged as the biggest question the next day.

The accused took away forcibly in Scorpio

The incident is being reported on Monday, January 5 at around 10 pm. The student said in her complaint that as soon as she came out of the house, two youths traveling in a Scorpio car forcibly pulled her into the car. The victim claims that one of them was a policeman.

The accused took her to a secluded place near the railway track and gang-raped her inside the car. According to the student, this torture lasted for about two hours. When she became unconscious, the accused threw her outside her house and fled.

Girl found dejected outside house, dial-112 also ineffective

At around 12 o’clock in the night, the student’s brother was returning home when he saw his sister lying unconscious outside. After regaining consciousness, the student narrated the entire incident and the family immediately informed on dial-112.

Police came and took the family to Bhimsen post. But the family alleges that as soon as they told that one of the accused was a policeman, the police refused to listen to them and they were thrown out of the post.

Trust broken due to police silence

According to the family, the police neither filed an FIR immediately, nor conducted medical treatment nor took any action on the spot. The next day i.e. on January 6, the family approached the authorities, only then an FIR was registered, but in the name of unknown accused. The family says that the accused whose names they gave were removed from the FIR, which has increased their anger and distrust.

The victim’s medical was done, report is awaited

Medical examination has been done. The matter will be taken forward after the report comes. Kanpur Police says that

• A case has been registered against two unknown persons under sections of kidnapping and gangrape.
• The accused will be identified and arrested soon
• If the policeman’s involvement is proved then strict action will be taken against him.
• The investigation will be conducted with complete transparency

Police surrounded by questions, family hoping for justice

The family is now demanding justice, not police action. The age of the victim, the alleged identity of the accused and the initial indifference of the police, all these aspects have raised a big question mark on law and order.

Kanpur has once again witnessed such an incident, where instead of crime, the concern is on the responsibility of those institutions whose job was to ensure security.
