After its theatrical release, Kannappa is releasing on OTT this month. Vishnu Manchu leads the film in the titular role. The mythological drama is based on the true story of Kannappa , who is regarded as Lord Shiva’s greatest devotee.
It was directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh.

Kannappa will be releasing on Amazon Prime Video on September 4. Announcing the date, Vishnu tweeted, “Witness the epic, spirit of sacrifice & divinity #KANNAPPA releases digitally on Sept 4, 2025 only on Prime Video. Har Har Mahadev. Har Ghar Mahadev.”

An in-house Times Now critic reviewed Kannappa and mentioned, “The film tells the story of Thinna (Manchu Vishnu), a tribal youth who does not believe in God. His life takes a turn after falling in love with a village chief’s daughter played by Preity Mukhundhan. Inspired by the origins of Sri Kalahasti temple, the story shows Thinna’s spiritual transformation.”
It further read, “With spectacular visuals of New Zealand, Kannappa makes for a visually stunning watch. The VFX is precise, and adds value to the scenes. The cameos by Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal work perfectly for the film’s story.”

Kannappa is a true story which has taken place in India. The film tells the tale of an atheist who becomes Lord Shiva’s greatest devotee. It is also said to be a powerful retelling of the historic and devotional saga of a hunter whose ultimate sacrifice became legendary.
