Kannappa cast fees: What is Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal and Prabhas’ remuneration for Vishnu Manchu’s film?

New Delhi: Vishnu Manchu starrer Kannappa is a high-budget mythological fantasy drama is all set to hit the theatres on June 27, 2025. The upcoming film is helmed by director Mukesh Kumar Singh and is shaping up to be a visual spectacle rooted in mythology and infused with fantastical elements.

It was also confirmed that Vishnu not only headlined the project but also contributed to the script. Positioned as a passion project, Kannappa has attracted a powerhouse ensemble cast.

Akshay Kumar is making his Telugu cinema debut in the role of Lord Shiva. As per a report by the Times of India, the Bollywood actor charged Rs 6 crore for his part. In contrast, Prabhas and Malayalam star Mohanlal reportedly chose not to charge any remuneration. Although the official figure for actress Kajal Aggarwal has not been revealed, it is presumed that standard remuneration has been offered.  The scale of the film is being widely discussed in trade circles. Kannappa is being positioned as one of the most ambitious ventures in recent Telugu cinema history.

Kannappa has been granted a U/A 13+ certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film was initially flagged by the Examining Committee (EC), which referred it to the Revising Committee (RC) for further review. Certification was approved only after specific edits were made.

As per the RC’s instructions, scenes involving bloodshed, dead bodies, decapitations, and close-up shots of arrows piercing the body were either removed or modified. A 4-second sunset silhouette shot was also cut. Additionally, 21 seconds of footage featuring yellow-red tones were trimmed, and a reference to tribal names displayed in computer-generated text was removed. In one particular scene, a close-up of a leg on a deity was replaced with visuals of water being poured on the idol.
