Rules of Kamada Ekadashi: Ekadashi fast has special significance in Hindu religion, but ‘Kamada Ekadashi’ of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month is considered very special. According to beliefs, this fast fulfills all the wishes and frees one from sins committed unknowingly. According to the Panchang, in the year 2026, the fast of Kamada Ekadashi will be observed on Sunday, March 29. According to astrology, a small carelessness done on this day can anger Lord Vishnu, due to which the person may have to face financial crisis.
Do not do this work even by forgetting Kamada Ekadashi!
Consumption of rice is prohibited
According to the scriptures, eating rice is prohibited on the day of Ekadashi. It is believed that a person who consumes rice on this day will be born in the form of a reptile in the next life.
Do not pluck basil leaves
Lord Vishnu loves Tulsi very much, but plucking Tulsi leaves on the day of Ekadashi is considered a great sin. Pluck basil leaves a day in advance for the puja. It is auspicious to offer water to Tulsi on this day, but avoid touching it.
Avoid conflict and anger
On the day of Kamada Ekadashi, one should avoid conflicts, arguments or abusing anyone at home. Mother Lakshmi does not reside in a house where there is unrest.
Meat, alcohol and vengeful food
Consumption of onion, garlic, meat and liquor is completely prohibited on this holy day. Eating tamasic food disturbs the purity of the mind and one does not get the virtuous results of fasting.
celibacy and not cutting hair
Shaving, cutting hair or cutting nails on the date of Ekadashi is considered inauspicious. Also, complete celibacy should be followed on this day.
What to do for financial gain?
- Lord Vishnu loves yellow color, hence wear yellow clothes during worship.
- Donating grains, fruits or sesame seeds to Brahmins or the needy on this day brings inexhaustible virtue.
- In the evening, light a ghee lamp near the Tulsi plant and chant the mantra Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya.
